Best Christmas Markets in UK

Is there anything more Christmassy than a Christmas market? We love nothing more than wrapping up warm, drinking gluhwein and hot chocolate, snacking on bratwurst and waffles and taking in the sights, sounds and smells of a Christmas market. And for today’s blog, we’re talking some of the best Christmas markets in the UK. So whether you’re a regular market goer, or you’ve yet to sample the delights of what they have to offer, take a look at some of our favourite festive market destinations…

Bath – 23rd November to 10th December

Bath Christmas Markets

One of the prettiest cities in the UK, Bath’s award-winning Christmas market doesn’t disappoint. You’ll find over 200 festive stalls lining the streets of Bath, as well as live music and delicious food. When it comes to shopping, think locally produced food and drink, as well as handmade gifts. If you’re making a weekend of it, Thermae Bath Spa is the UK’s only natural thermal day spa and is not to be missed.

Manchester – 10th  November to 20th December

Manchester Christmas Markets

Manchester’s Christmas market is one of the biggest in the UK and has been a festive attraction in the city since 1999. The central market hub is in the city’s Albert Square by Manchester Town Hall, but the stalls spread all over the city. You’ll find foods from all destinations, like delicious Dutch pancakes and Spanish paella.  For an extra bit of festive cheer, head to Cathedral Garden’s ice rink to skate away some calories.

Edinburgh – 18th November to 6th January

 Edinburgh Christmas Markets

For a Christmas market with a party atmosphere, get yourself to Edinburgh. The market takes place right in the centre, below the Mound, so it’s ideal for taking in the sights of the city. The enormous big wheel offers panoramic views of the whole of Edinburgh, and of course, you can pick up gorgeous, unique gifts from the artisan stalls. The market at East Princes Street Gardens also runs into January, so it’s perfect for a post-Christmas or New Year’s Day browse.
