Essential party planning for the Royal Wedding

With Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s upcoming nuptials fast approaching this month on Saturday the 19th, we’ve been thinking of ways in which we can celebrate! We love any occasion that brings the country together and gives us an excuse for a party, so we’ve put together a few ideas everyone can do to make the most of the Royal occasion.

Hold a street party:

Essential party planning for the Royal Wedding

What better way to celebrate the Royal wedding than to hold a quintessentially British street party? Think bunting, scones, clotted cream and jam, cups of tea and pitchers of Pimms! If you don’t have the option of shutting your street off, make the best use of pavements, alleyways and gardens. It’s the perfect opportunity to get your friends and neighbours together in the spirit of proper British knees up.

Hold a viewing party:

Pimms for the Summer

If a bigger party isn’t an option, why not hold a smaller viewing party? The wedding will take place on a Saturday at 12 pm, making it easier to view live. However, even if you can’t view the initial broadcast, the wedding will undoubtedly be available across channels and for you to watch in full online. Get together to watch it with your friends and have some Pimms or prosecco in the sunshine to celebrate! We can’t wait to see the guests’ outfits, the flower displays and- of course- Meghan’s dress.

Get cooking:

Classic British Scones with Jam and Clotted Cream

With Ms Markle coming to us from the other side of the pond, why not celebrate the transatlantic nuptials by complementing traditional English food with American? If cooking isn’t your forte, there are lots of easy, finger-foods you can make or buy, such as mini hot dogs and sausage rolls. Or, for those with a sweet tooth, serve up American cheesecake alongside classic British scones.

Get decorative:

Royal Wedding Party Decorations

Whatever your plans, decorations are a really simple way to help you get into the spirit! Whether you’re decorating your house, garden or street, bunting is a cheap and easy option. (You can also easily make your own if you’re feeling thrifty.) Shops will undoubtedly be packed with a range of themed decorations for the occasion, so you won’t be short on options. Something as simple as a Union Jack tablecloth, a sprinkle of confetti and some mini flags goes a long way and will be a picture-perfect way to commemorate the occasion.
