October has arrived, and we do love a bit of October fashion here at Curvissa. Boots, chunky knitwear, gorgeous coats – it’s officially time to start wrapping up warm. And for today’s blog, you’re in for a treat as we’re talking the hottest trends for AW17, straight off the catwalks and into your wardrobe.
Lady in Red
Maybe it’s the popularity of the dancing lady emoji, but designers couldn’t get enough of red for this season. Scarlett, crimson, wine, burgundy – if it’s red, it’s red hot right now. From glamorous outwear to dresses to the must-have ’60’s inspired red boots, red will be your hero shade this season.
Furry Frills Aplenty
Faux fur, feathers and fluff were all the rage on the runways, and a trend we’ll be using to add some fun textures to our going out outfits. Layer up with a faux fur gilet, or keep the trend a little more understated with a fluffy knit cardigan.
More is More
The easiest way step into AW17 is with a pair of fabulous shoes while carrying a flamboyantly detailed clutch. Think embellished patterns, luxe fabrics, statement heels and intricate embroidery; more is more with this trend. From embroidered bags to statement boots, we’ll be wearing this trend day and night.
Her Majesty Inspired
Stella McCartney sent models down the catwalk in headscarves and quilted jackets (think Queen Elizabeth at Balmoral). Try the trend with a quilted jacket and heritage checks for weekend dressing. Just add wellies (headscarf optional!).
The Return of The Cord
Get ready for a corduroy comeback for AW17! Go for autumnal shades like berry or rust, and pair with chunky knitwear and bohemian inspired accessories for a look that’s straight off the runway.
Velvet, Velvet, Velvet
Velvet has been big news for a few AW seasons now, and our favourite Christmas fabric isn’t going anywhere this year. Go all out femme fatale in a velvet dress, or try a velvet t-shirt paired with jeans for an easy-to-wear daytime outfit.
