Dressing for an Outdoor Wedding

We’re a bunch of romantics here at Curvissa, and there’s nothing we love more than a wedding. The venue, the flowers, the outfits, getting together with friends and family – what’s not to love? This year, we’re seeing a new trend emerging in the world of nuptials, and that’s the rise of the outdoor wedding. From beautiful ceremonies on the Santorini cliff sides to English country garden weddings in classically British manor houses, outdoor ceremonies are big news. For today’s blog, we’re sharing our tips for how to plan for all weather eventualities when you’re a guest at an outdoor wedding.

Best of British

Lightweight Jacket

Most UK venues have a contingency plan for outdoor weddings (good old British summertime), but if you’re lucky with the weather, there’s nothing better than an outdoor setting for vows. Combermere Abbey’s gorgeous glass house and maze is a perfect choice for an English country garden wedding. For this kind of setting, outfits which feature a lightweight jacket are ideal as if it’s a little breezy you won’t get chilly waiting for the bride’s arrival. Channel an English rose in beautiful intricate floral prints, layered over a simple shift dress for understated elegance.

Vows with a view

Santorini is such a popular destination for weddings and with its Ionian sun and fabulous views, it’s easy to see why. If you’re heading to an outdoor wedding in a hot country, outfit choice is really important. We’d go for a lightweight chiffon fabric to keep as cool as possible. We love this little bardot number – super pretty and flowy enough to keep your temperature down.  Don’t forget your sunnies and a pretty fan to keep you cool in the sunshine.

Water Weddings

Studio 8 Rylie Jacket

Taking to the high seas as a wedding guest? Venues like The Yacht London allow you to say I do on the water by hosting the ceremony on the top deck. Outfit-wise, look for complimentary jackets and dresses. They’re ideal for wrapping up if the sea (or river!) breeze is brisk, but later on the jacket can be taken off for dinner and dancing on the lower decks. We love the Studio 8 Rylie jacket paired with the gorgeous ‘50s inspired Charlene dress.
