Bank holiday weekend in...

Three of our favourite words in the English language? Bank Holiday Weekend! And with one just around the corner (26th, 27th, 28th of August – you’re welcome!) we’re counting down the days and making big plans. Whether you fancy a staycation or a mini break, we’ve got plenty of ideas for how you should be spending the last bank holiday of the year.

Take a trip to the home of The Beatles, The Albert Dock and the largest collection of museums and galleries outside of London. Liverpool is the perfect destination for the whole family. If it rains, the kids will love exploring The Merseyside Maritime Museum (and entry’s free!), or try the British Music Experience, which tells the story of British Music through costumes, instruments, performance and memorabilia. Or hit the fantastic range of shops and restaurants at Liverpool One. When the sun’s shining down, enjoy an ice cream at the gorgeous Sefton Park and visit the fabulous Palm House.

With just a two and a half hour flight from the UK, it’s your best bet to guarantee the sunshine this bank holiday weekend with a trip to Ibiza. The White Isle isn’t just nightclubs and shots either; try the beautiful Santa Eulalia with its palm lined promenade and Mediterranean restaurants, and see if you can spot any celebs at the exclusive yacht marina. Then take in the Ibiza sunset as you sip on a frosty cocktail – what could be better for a bank holiday weekend?!

Romantic break for two on the agenda this bank holiday? There’s nowhere better than Paris. Take in the must-sees like the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and the Arc de Triomphe on day one, and then live like a queen at the stunning Palace of Versailles on your second day in the city. If you’re feeling active, why not try a Champagne bike tour, which takes cycling you through vineyard trails, local cellars and allows you to sample some of France’s best champagne. Just don’t get too tipsy for the cycle back to the city!
