Body Confidence: Questions Answered

April 16, 2014

Following Monday’s post, we wanted to find out more about what attendees gained from the Curve Project experience. We had an amazing time seeing our VIPs under the spotlight; pampered, preened and strutting their stuff. But what did they take from the event?

After the Curve Project, we asked our ladies what body confidence meant to them. Their answers were both insightful and inspiring. Here’s what they learnt.

I love my body because…

There’s a clear reason why our girl’s love their body, and that’s because it’s theirs! Over half of those we spoke to explained how they accept how they look, and thanks to the Curve Project, are ready to celebrate it.

Leah from Just Me Leah highlights why it’s important to love your body, appreciate what you have and live for the moment.

Body Confidence

I would give my less body confident self this piece of advice…

It’s impossible to be body confident all the time. Sometimes we need those little pick-me-ups to make us feel great. To help, we asked the girls what their advice would be. Here are three of our favourites:

  1. Wear what you want and do it for you! (Charley Herdman, Big Girl About Town)
  2. Spend time getting to know your body – you will learn to love it (Becky)
  3. You only have one body and one life, start living (Anne-Lise)

One answer that really stood out to us was Hollie’s from Pretty Big Butterflies. She told us “don’t care what people say or think. Negativity comes from people who are unhappy with themselves.”

From experience she’s learnt that the only opinion about her body that matters is her own. On her blog, she continues by saying “I would just give myself the advice that it really does not matter what people think. Don’t look back on life wishing you were always something or someone else. Look back and be proud of what you did and who you are.”

I feel most confident when I’m wearing…

Last but not least, we couldn’t let our Curve Project VIPs leave without asking which outfits they feel most confident in. Sally from The Human Mannequin captures the most popular answer in just two words… “bright colours!”

Our plus-size beauties love statement style that shows personality, and believe a must-have purchase for any girl’s makeup bag is red lipstick. It’s simple, but gets you noticed.

In addition to bold colours, nearly half of our attendees also said that wearing something pretty always makes them feel fabulous. From swing to skater dresses, a feminine touch can make all the difference.

As the Curve Project proved, a wardrobe revamp can really help with body confidence.

Clearly the Curve Project attendees gained a lot from the experience. But what does body confidence mean to you?
